You are my child of moonlight
You call the angels down.
There is a peace within my heart
Whenever you’re around
The stars at night they all shine bright
And darling so do you
You are my child of moonlight and I’ll always love you
You are my child of shooting stars
You are my wish come true
My heart had never held such love
Until my arms held you
The stars at night they all shine bright
And darling so do you
You are my child of moonlight and I’ll always love you.
The stars at night they all shine bright
And darling so do you
You are my child of moonlight and I’ll always love you.
Background Notes from Amy
I wrote this lullaby in 2006. It was inspired by an extraordinary nighttime feeding session with my son. As we settled down to nurse, I looked out our windows and the backyard was alive with fireflies.
So I took Clayton outside to watch them dance over our lawn. He was delighted.
As I nursed him in the soft, cool air, we gazed up at the canopy of bright stars. There was only a sliver of a moon. Then we saw some shooting stars.
As I held my son close, I felt my heart might burst with love for him and love for the world. It was a night that I will never forget with my child of moonlight.
