Christmas Lullaby

by Laura
(Escondido, CA, USA)

I used to sing this to my daughter when she was a baby but I don't remember the source . Some of the words are "Angels watch you little one, while you're fast asleep, you'll awake to ...........candy canes, Christmas joys....and I pray your whole life through Angels will watch over you, loving you the way I do, my little one sleep tight" or something like that:)

Does anyone know the lyrics?

Classic recording NEW

I rediscovered this sweet lullaby just the other day while listening to an old Christmas album by the Living Strings on YouTube. I vaguely recalled the tune, but while researching the lyrics, I came across a recording of it by Cary Grant, of all people! Yes, Cary Grant the actor. It was his only 45. He recorded it for his and Dyan Cannon's daughter Jennifer in 1967. She was his only child, born late in his life. That's what makes it so sweet. He half sings, half talks, but the emotion in his voice and the beautiful violin solo makes it worth a listen. It can be found on YouTube.

I think you're thinking of A Christmas Lullaby:

Angels bless you, little one
While you're fast asleep
You'll awake to dancing toys,
Candy canes, Christmas joys

And I pray your whole life through
Angels will watch over you
Loving you the way I do
My little one, sleep well

Angels bless you, little one
While you're fast asleep
You'll awake to dancing toys
Candy canes, Christmas joys

And I pray your whole life through
Angels will watch over you
Loving you the way I do
My little one, sleep well

My mom used to sing this every Christmas to me. I miss her so much. :(
