go to sleep little one says the clock on the wall

by Terrie
(UK)

I'm amazed I can't find this on the internet anywhere... my father used to sing it to me and I sang it to my children. If anyone knows it & knows where it is from I'd be thrilled and if noone has ever heard of it then I am glad I at least shared the lyrics here...

Go to sleep little one says the clock on the wall
go to sleep it's the time for the sandman to call
If you close your eyes and hold my hand
then we'll fly through the sky to a faraway land.

There'll be Little Jack Horner & Little Boy Blue
and a little old lady who lives in her shoe
Little Bo Peep will be counting her sheep
if you just close your eyes
little one go to sleep

I remember this song from a film I saw when I was very young but cannot remember what the film was called. I sang this to my two grown up boys and now my baby granddaughter.

We had this record at home when I was a child. I now sing it to my granddaughter who now knows the words off by heart. Would love a copy of it for her to have when I'm not around

Now I can Sleep Well
by: Terrie

Thank you Chrissy and everyone! So good to eventually find out what it is. It's good to know that there are still people out there singing it to their children and grandchildren. Through this I also found that another song my father sang to me was by Max Bygraves too (I was also named after it), Saint Teresa of the Roses.

Go to sleep little one - lullaby
by: Anonymous

I sing this to my grand-daughters at bed-time every time they stay with me.
The ritual is we sing three songs and this is the finale.
They adore it and know if off by heart now. So it is being passed on.

Close your eyes little one.

I think this song came from an old black & white film, something like the baby and the battleship?
