Seeds of faith at 5 years old.
by: Arthur Long

I was 5 years old and my first time away from home for two weeks at the Salvation Army camp in Standish Maine. At night after camp fire, the boys and girls and councilors would all sing this song before retiring to our cabins for the day. At 70 years old, I'm still singing this song. So thankful for the tiny seeds of faith that grew into a life of faith.

The song, "Good Night"
by: Michael Hyde

I am from the Caribbean, Jamaica W.I and had been hearing this song, "Good Night" on the radio (Radio Jamaica and Radio Fusion. RJR) every Sunday night at 9pm. It is very likely that Family Radio was the host of that programme aired through RJR. And, that song always blesses my heart when I hear it sung at the end of that programming, and today it remains in my heart with unspeakable joy and indeed brings back pleasant memories of that time while I was yet a young man.

Summer church camp NEW
by: Anonymous

I remember this song from Summer Church camp. Our dorm mom would sing this at lights out and no one was to speak after she finished. Fond memories, Mary.

A favorite! NEW
by: Anonymous

There were 8 kids in my family and my parents would always sing this at the end of our devotional time at night. The rule was we all had to be in our bedrooms by the time the song was done or else we’d get a paddling:) It was a creative, fun way to get us down at night and we all LOVED it. We are all grown and married and recently, after almost 10 years of not being all together, we got together for two days and sang this on the last night. We all got up and hurried into the other room to make sure we didn’t get our paddling:-) Such good memories and all the grandkids know this now!

Blessed! NEW
by: Anonymous

I'm always blessed to hear how others have such good memories of the song, too. We wrote another verse for out kids:

Good night, your mom and dad do love you,
Good night, we think the world of you,
Good night, and we'll be praying for you,
So good night, may God bless you.

I wish someone would sing it and record it and post it on youtube!

Such a sweet memory NEW
by: Bonnie

I grew up in the 60's and my Dad would sing this to me and my siblings at bedtime. I sang it to my kids but had forgotten about it until tonight when I was tucking my grown daughter into bed. (She was at her own house but sick with the flu). My oldest daughter and I had gone there to help. It must have been the very act of tucking her into bed that brought it back. "We should sing her the goodnight song", I said. It brought a few chuckles as my daughter and I sang it together. It may not take away her sickness but I'm sure it made her feel loved, as it always did for me. ❤️

Wonderful! NEW
by: David

Our church childrens' group in Wichita, KS used to sing this song as our closing every week back in the 60's. I sang it to my children while they were growing up. My daughter, in her 20's, asks me to sing it to her once in a while. My son (late 20's) sings it to his Godchild. Memories...how very sweet and meaningful!

Glad to hear that this good night blessing song continues to be sung. We sang it every night for years, but our boys are teens now and somewhere along the way we ceased to sing it. I may just have to surprise them tonight.

Thank you

My mom sang this song to me as a little girl, every night for years and years. I have my own children now and when I asked my mother about the song, she could not remember it! I found this while doing a google search for one of the lyrics that I could remember from my childhood. Thanks so much for posting it. =)

RE: song at camp
by: Anonymous

Our camp in Indiana also used that song as we left our campfire area. This was back in the 1950's. Loved that song. There was a little variation from the one you used. "His presence goes before you"
Thank you for the memories.

I remember
by: Anonymous

I remember listening to this song play on Family Radio when I was little. If we heard this song come on, we knew it was 9:00 and bedtime. :) I looked it up now, years later to sing it for my little sisters. Thanks for posting it.
