I’m 72. My mother sang this song to me at 4-5 years old. One of my most tender memories. I’ve searched periodically for a very long time to find it. Thank you for this. It’s a connection to her that can’t be replaced or described it’s so personal.

My mom and grandma always used to sing this to me, except they would sing,

I think they kept the rest of the song the same, though. Does anyone know the origins of this song? I imagine it might have come from the World War I era.
