My mommy lives up in the sky....

In Graces(?) world stood a little lost girl who was crying alone one night
When an officer strong quickly stepped from throng to comfort the poor little tyke
Where does momma live child? the officer smiled I'll take you to her so don't cry
He patted her head and the little girl said My mommy lives up in the sky

My mommy lives up in the sky
All the angels can show you the way
take me there too and I'll show her to you
she has the most beautiful face
my daddy was lost on a ship
when I was a wee baby so high
take me tonight to the city so bright
where my mommy lives up in the sky

When the officer heard each sad little word
a tear kissed his kind blue eyes
he thought of the day not long passed away
when his own mommy moved to the sky

*My grandmother used to sing this to me when I was a little boy. This is the best I can remember. If anyone knows it I'd appreciate any info.

My mom sang this to me. Here are the next few verses NEW
by: Anonymous

The officer heard each sad little word,
And a tear dimmed his kind blue eye
As he thought of the day that had long passes away
When his own mother moved to the sky.

"There, there", said he, "just you come home with me
Our home needs a baby like you,
And I know you’ll like me just because don’t you see
My momma lives up in the sky, too."

"My Momma lives up in the sky.
All the angels can show you the place,
So ,take me there, too, and I’ll show her to you,
For she has such a beautiful face.

"My daddy was lost out at sea
When I was a wee baby so high.
So, take me tonight to that city so bright
Where my momma lives up in the sky."

My grandmother sang this to me too. She was born in 1900. The words you have here are the ones I remember. Brought back a lot of memories. I'm 65 now.
