Old Mother Moon shinning so bright, will I be good.

by Robert
(Flint MI)

My Mother used to sing that song to me 64 years ago and I now sing it to my two granddaughters but I don't know the rest of the lyrics. I would be grateful if someone could help. I think it was an old English lullaby.

my mom's version
by: David Miller

Old mother moon, you're as bright as you can be;
High in the clouds, stop looking at me.
Will I be good?
Yes, I'll be good.

What I remember from my grandmother, Myrna Mom NEW
by: Jay Wren

Old Mother Moon, I'm as still as can be.
Hidin' that cloud, and stop lookin' at me.
Everything naughty your big eyes can see.
Will I be good? Yes, I'll be good.
Went up to bed in the dark you would go,
How would you feel if she scrawled at you so.
Spoiling your dreams if you do not act right.
Will I be good?
Yes I'll be good!

Adding to Paul...

Went up to bed in the dark you would go,

Spoiling your dreams if you do not act right.

Old Mother Moon - Lyrics
by: Christy

I too could not remember the words to this song that my great grandmother used to sing to us kids but my mom had the words written down. They have been in my family for over 100 years, seriously.

-Old Mother Moon, looking down from on high, better be good, better be good. What if she told all the stars in the sky? Better be good, better be good.
-When up to bed in the dark you must go. How would you feel if she scowls at you so? Everything naughty the moon's sure to know. Better be good, better be good.
-Old Mother Moon sailing up in her boat. Better be good, better be good. Everything naughty she truly will note. Better be good, better be good.
-Down her beam ladder so silvery white. Come little fairies each moon shiny night. Spoiling your dreams if you do not act right. Better be good, better be good.
-Chorus: Old Mother Moon, I'm as afraid as can be. Hide in the clouds and stop looking at me. Everything naughty your big eyes can see. Will I be good? Yes I'll be good.

I hope this is what you're looking for.

Old mother moon

My mom sang it this way
"Old mother moon looking down from on high, you better be good, you better be good
What have you told all the stars in the sky, you better be good, you better be good
Oh mother moon I'm afraid as can be. Hide in those clouds and stop peeking at me. Everything naughty your big eyes will see. Will I be good? Yes, I'll be good.

Old Mother Moon
by: Paul D

My mother sang this song to me that her mother sang to her:

Old Mother Moon, I'm as still as can be.
Hidin' behind that cloud, stop lookin' at me.
Ev'rything naughty your big eyes can see.
Will I be good? Yes, I'll be good.
