Peacefully my baby sleep, stars they have began to peep. O'er thy bed of yellow gold, angels white, their wings unflold.

Learned this in 6th grade chorus and many years later, as the mother of a little girl, I sang it to her. A beautiful song. When her daughter was born, we sang this song to her together. Now, my granddaughter is going to be a mother and she is going to have a little girl. I would love to have the lyrics (original) to pass on to her. She has asked me about this song and I hope to be able to find the lyrics for the new little girl in our lives.

Lyrics to "Peacefully My Baby Sleeps"
by: TexIrish.Org

Peacefully My Baby Sleeps (Traditional; arranged by Danny O'Flaherty)

From the liner notes on Danny O'Flaherty's album "An Irish Christmas Carol" (1995):

Peacefully my baby sleeps
Stars in the heavens begin to peep
O'er the bed of yellow gold
Angels bright their wings unfold

Shuh-heen, shuh-loo-la-loo
Birds of eve their vespers sing
Shuh-heen, shuh-loo-la-loo
With their hymns the vale doth ring
Shuh-heen-shuh, shuh-been-sho

Now the moon begins to rise
Sailing through the peaceful skies
Among the leaves her silver rays
Shimmer in the ghostly haze

Shuh-heen, shuh-loo-la-loo
Holy Mary, mother mild
Shuh-heen, shuh-loo-la-loo
Through the night protect my child
Shuh-heen-shuh, shuh-been-sho

Also recorded on Celtic Christmas Live in Concert on CD and DVD (2004), a live versions with lead singer Janet Shea(?)backed by Danny O'Flaherty.
